EBSB Charitable Foundation Accepting 2010 Grant Applications
The East Boston Charitable Foundation (formally the Meridian Charitable Foundation) has announced that it is accepting grant applications for the year 2010. Founded by East Boston Savings Bank in 1998, the EBSB Foundation benefits nonprofit charitable organizations serving residents of the greater Boston and North Shore communities. In 2009, thirty-four community organizations were awarded grants totaling $166,000.
“For twelve years EBSB has been proud to assist worthy charitable organizations in our communities with funding made possible through the EBSB Foundation,” said Richard Gavegnano, chairman and chief executive officer of East Boston Savings Bank. “Since its inception, the Foundation has distributed over $595,000 in funding to support many deserving charitable causes and community development activities. We feel very strongly about being a resource for these organizations in times of need” said Gavegnano.
To be considered eligible for a grant, an organization must be a charitable Massachusetts corporation 501(c)(3) as defined under IRS letter section 170 (b)(1)(A)(6) or (a)(2). All applications must be received by July 16, 2010, in order to be considered. Completed applications can be mailed to: East Boston Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, c/o East Boston Savings Bank, 67 Prospect St., Peabody, MA 01960, or dropped off Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
