Bianco & Sons Inc Ribbon Cutting
Sausage maker, Bianco & Sons Inc. hosted the official ribbon-cutting for their new manufacturing facility in Medford on Tuesday, May 23rd. East Boston Savings Bank provided $6.4 million in acquisition and construction financing, of the 29,200 SF building located at one Brainard Ave. Medford (former location of Hoff’s Bakery). The new facility will provide a more expansive and efficient layout for the company’s sausage production, and accommodate their entire operation. Bianco & Sons Inc. was founded in 1960 by Joseph Bianco, Sr. and continues to be a family-owned business, Joseph Bianco, Jr. (second generation) and his two sons, Lewis and Joseph III and daughter Francesca. The company previously operated out of a 4,000 SF facility in Revere, MA for the past 57 years and officially began their operations out if this new facility on May 3rd.

EBSB Sponsors South End Youth Baseball Opening Day
On Saturday, May 13th we joined local youth, elected officials, and other community leaders to kick off South End Youth Baseball’s opening day. Executive Vice President, Edward Merritt presented a check to the league in sponsorship of their 2017-2018 season, and had the privilege of throwing the first pitch. South End Youth Baseball is a non-profit organization that provides a comprehensive baseball and softball program for youths within the South End community, as well as Roxbury, Dorchester and Chinatown.

Danvers YMCA Healthy Kids Fair
Thank you to all who stopped by the East Boston Savings Bank table and toured our Mobile Banking Unit at the Danvers YMCA Healthy Kids Fair, on Saturday April 29th. Our employees all enjoyed participating along with the Danvers Fire department and all of the vendors in attendance.

Our Chairman, CEO and President had a great time meeting with students and sharing his life experiences and career advice at the 7TH Annual Teen Entrepreneur Series hosted by The Business Not As Usual Entrepreneur Institute, Inc.(BNUEI) held at the YMCA of Great Boston. The BNUEI’s mission is to encourage and empower teens living in the inner city of Boston to use their gifts and talents and provide teaching and training that can motivate them to pursue the launch of their own businesses.

Pirandello Lyceum presents EBSB Chairman, CEO & President, Richard Gavegnano, with one of this year’s prestigious “I Migliori in Mens et Gesta” Awards, “Best in Mind and Deeds”, within the community. The “I Migliori” award recognizes a group of outstanding Americans of Italian descent who have made important and significant contributions to their profession, society and to the Italian American community. Recipients were recognized at the Pirandello Lyceum 2017 Honor Awards Gala, held on April 1st at the Hyatt Hotel in Boston. Among this year’s recipients was Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts Karen Polito and State Representative Dr. Steven Ultrino.

Partnering with BUILD Greater Boston Entrepreneurship Workshop
We were proud to partner with BUILD Greater Boston for their Entrepreneurship workshop at the Community Academy of Science and Health in Dorchester. Our Chairman, CEO and President Richard Gavegnano consulted with 10th grade students on their student-run business ventures to share lessons learned from his career, along with giving them advice on how to fine-tune their business plans and identify ways to take their businesses to the next level.
Lending a Hand to Harrington Elementary School in Lynn
With the generous help of our employees and customers, we were able to gather two full boxes of toiletries and art supplies donations for the EJ Harrington School Student Council. The donation items will be sent to children living in an orphanage in Afghanistan. Thank you to all of those that contributed towards our donation drive.

Supporting a New Bookstore to the Learning for the 21st Century
We were happy to present the Learning for the 21st Century after-school enrichment program with a donation towards their new and highly anticipated bookstore, located at the Arthur T. Cummings School in Winthrop. The 21st Century program provides students with academic enrichment and other activities designed to complement students’ regular academic program. The bookstore will be a beneficial resource towards their Annual 40-Book Challenge, which both the students and the teachers greatly look forward to participating in every year.
East Boston Annual Deep Freeze Hockey Tournament
For another year in a row, we were the proud sponsors of the East Boston Annual Deep Freeze Hockey Tournament that took place on December 26th and 27th at the Porrazo Rink. The East Boston High School Jets were the hosts of this event in which all of the proceeds from the event benefitted the Boston Medical Center’s Cancer Care Center & Breast Cancer Support Services. We participated in a special tribute made to Carrie Brangiforte in honor of her mother Jacki Anthony, wife of Jets head coach Robert Anthony, whose years of dedication and commitment to East Boston High School and this event will forever be remembered. Congratulations Jets on winning the championship!
